Parents' ball in tribute to tragic baby daughter

A COUPLE who lost their baby daughter after just 28 hours are raising charity cash in her memory with a ball this weekend.

Joanne and Jonathan Tennick are holding the event at the Consort Hotel in Thurcroft at 7pm tomorrow/Saturday night in aid of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

Their daughter Rosie was born with the rare condition osteogenesis imperfecta, a genetic disorder characterised by brittle bones, and lived for just over a day.

The couple, of St Withold Avenue, Thurcroft, are aiming to raise £5,000 for the hospice to build an extension on the room where they stayed at the hospice before Rosie’s funeral.

So far they have collected more than £3,400.

Friend Vicki Hipwell said: “Joanne has amazed me with her strength and courage to carry on.

“She has organised this ball and with support from friends and local business and has managed to sell over 180 tickets.”

For more information and to buy tickets for £20, visit the Rosie’s Love Ball Facebook page or call Joanne on 07815 164746.

The formal-dress event will include a three-course meal, live music and a raffle and auction.
