Pair prepare for skydive challenge

A PAIR of fearless fund-raisers are aiming to take the plunge to raise awareness of a rare condition in support of relatives who are suffering the symptoms.

Alan Spears and his sister-in-law Elizabeth Wheeler plan to jump out of a plane in the skies over Lincolnshire tomorrow in support of the Huntington’s Disease Association.

Elizabeth’s husband Phillip and daughter Kerry both suffer from, a hereditary disorder of the central nervous system which affects 12 people per 100,000 in the UK and brings symptoms such as uncontrollable muscular movements,    short-term memory lapses and depression.

Elizabeth, of Quarry Hill Road, Wath, is looking after Phillip, who is at an advanced stage of the disease, at home with help from carers.

The family have raised more than £1,200 for the Huntington’s Disease Association.
