MOTORS REVIEW Goodwood Festival

KIA and MG will shift their offering up a gear with electric vehicles (EV) which make their public debut at this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Kia’s flagship, seven-seat EV9 SUV features prices starting from £64,495 while the £36,495 MG4 EV

XPOWER could spark a zero-emissions hot hatch movement.

The EV9’s 99.8kWh battery delivers a claimed driving range of up to 336 miles in 204PS single motor guise.

A dual-motor, all-wheel-drive GT-Line version manages a lesser 308-mile range from its 378PS

drivetrain and costs £72,495 – taking Kia’s pricing strategy into new territory.

Affordable EV specialist MG will take its customers into new territory in pricing and performance

terms ahead of the launch of its zero-emission Cyberster roadster EV, meanwhile.

Its all-wheel-drive MG4 EV XPOWER delivers 435PS and claims 3.8-second acceleration to 62mph.

MG Motor UK commercial director Guy Pigounakis described the MG4 EV XPOWER as “the antithesis of the traditionally ‘loud’ high-performance hatchback”.
