Lions bring Maltby Christmas in with a roar

MALTBY Lions will be bringing Christmas cheer to villages and housing estates around the borough with the return of not one but two seasonal sleighs.

Santa is going on tour next Thursday and will be on the road until Christmas Eve.

Both sleighs head out at 6pm unless otherwise stated.

The timetable is as follows: December 10: Kiveton; December 11: Thurcroft and Aughton; December 12: Highfield Park and Tickhill Road, Maltby; December 13: Aston (Lodge Lane); December 14: Manor area (Braithwell Road and below), Aston (The Chase); December 15: Sheppey and Little London area, Aston (Rosegarth); December 16: Model village, Birks Holt, Dinnington (High Nook); December 17: White City, Laughton Common; December 18: Laughton, Hooton Levitt, Brookhouse, Throapham; December 19: Woodsetts; December 20: Braithwell, Hellaby, South Anston; December 21: Cliff Hills, North Anston; December 22: Dale Hill (Lilly Hall Road, Columbus Way Estate) 5.45pm, Dinnington (Church Lane), 5.45pm; December 23: Dale Hill (start at Upperfield Road and Lower Part of Estate) 5.45pm, North Anston (Lakeland Drive), 5.45pm; Christmas Eve: Dale Hill (Scott Walk and the side of the new estate) 5.45pm, North Anston (Wimpy Estate) 5.45pm.

There will also be sleighs parked up at the following locations on the following dates: December 11: Maltby Tesco 9.30am-1.30pm; December 13: Morrisons Bramley, 10am- 4pm; December 19: Tesco Dinnington 10am-2pm and Co-op Swallownest 10am-2pm and Christmas Eve: Queen’s Corner, Maltby, 9.30am to 1.30pm.

q CYCLING Santas and riding reindeer will take part in a festive themed free bike event at Clifton Park.

The Sky Ride Local ride starts at the museum at noon on Sunday (6) with a one-mile route mapped out.

Members of the public are invited to take part in as may laps as they would like. Helen Webster, British Cycling recreation manager for Rotherham, said: “The cold weather is closing in, but that’s no excuse to hide indoors.

“We hope this Christmas themed bike ride will encourage families to get outdoors, have some fun and keep active over the winter period.”
