A MORRIS dancing group is on the lookout for new recruits of all ages to help boost their numbers.

Doncaster-based Green Oak Morris Men have been going since 1972 and have toured all over the UK and to European countries including Bulgaria and Romania.

The group is keen to hear from budding members of all ages and experience wanting to try morris dancing or playing folk tunes.

Member Peter Heigham said: “If you like good company, a bit of exercise, and a couple of beers, then morris dancing is an ideal new hobby.

“We are a friendly bunch and welcome people from all over to come along and give it a go.”

Much like traditional morris dancers, Green Oak dance with sticks and handkerchiefs to the rhythm of English folk tunes.

They also perform a Yorkshire longsword dance and an historic mummers play at Christmas.
