Gallery hosts cross-county art show

ARTISTS have teamed up with colleagues from the Midlands to put on Rotherham’s biggest ever art show.

The Big Art Show is currently running at the Old Market Gallery, on Market Street in the town centre.

The event has been organised by Derek Allport — former head of art and design at Rotherham College — and Old Market Gallery curator Vicky Hilton.

Derek said: “The show combines art work from the South Yorkshire region with work by the Midlands Group, who are a long established society of artists.

“Our audience can get a taste of other approaches to the visual arts in a show containing printmaking, sculpture, drawing, painting, ceramics and collage.”

The exhibition is open from 10am to 3pm, Tuesday to Saturday and runs until Saturday, February 11.
