Friendship lunch a “most uplifting experience” says TV actress

A FORMER Coronation Street actress has described a social event designed to tackle loneliness in the community as a “most uplifting experience”.

Rita May – who recently appeared in Sky One's TV series Trollied and Channel 4's Ackley Bridge as well as in the 2021hit film Everyone's Talking About Jamie - was the special guest at the first friendship lunch held at the Sitwell Arms in Whiston and hosted by managers Holly-Marie Pilgrim and Amber Chesworth.

Freelance community consultant Kathy Markwick launched the 'Music Makes Memories' events in South Yorkshire seven years ago, with the inaugural Rotherham event in Kimberworth in 2021.

Actress Rita said: "It was a great afternoon.

“As an 'oldie' the friendship lunch definitely gives you something to look forward to.

“Everyone enjoyed the singing and dancing - it was a most uplifting experience.”

Founder Kathy said: “The inaugural event at the Sitwell was a huge success, with first class service, a delicious afternoon tea and entertainment with the fantastic Paul Anthony.
