Event will explore how Rotherham can stand up to hatred

ROTHERHAM’S Holocaust Memorial Day event will consider how people can challenge prejudice and stand up to hatred.

The gathering in All Saints’ Square from 11.30am to noon next Friday (27) will be the eighth time RMBC has marked the occasion.

It is a time for reflecting on the millions killed in the Holocaust and other genocides, with a range of speakers.

The theme is “ordinary people” — exploring how individuals can make a positive difference or stand by and do nothing.

Council leader Cllr Chris Read said: “It is important that current and future generations can learn from the mistakes of the past to help create a safer and better future.”
