Cycle in safety

YOUNG cyclists are being encouraged to gear-up for the Tour de France Grand Depart by taking part in a series of cycling safety sessions.

Meadowhall is hosting a series of special workshops in conjunction with the UK’s largest independent bike shop, Rotherham-based JE James Cycles.

The one-stop bike spot is designed to equip children with the skills and confidence they need to cycle safely on the roads.

Located in the shopping centre’s upper car park, expert bike specialists from JE James have been on hand to guide youngsters and other family members through a number of activities and challenges.

JE James staff also offer free bike checks to anyone who cycled down to see them, giving the once over to cables, bearings, brake pads, chain and tyres to ensure they are road ready.

Meadowhall will welcome the world's biggest cycling race by hosting a special day of fun and entertainment for all the family, which includes the ongoing cycle safety sessions, on Sunday — the day that sees the Tour passing by.
