Community clean-up of Dalton Brook seeks volunteers

VOLUNTEERS have been invited to help out with a community clean-up of Dalton Brook.

The effort from 10am to 1pm on Tuesday, July 11, has been organised by RMBC’s Love Where You Live service and the Don Valley River Catchment Trust.

Ward member Cllr Michael Bennett-Sylvester said: “I’d like to thank both services for responding to community concerns to clean up the brook.

“It’s a complex issue who has responsibility for what on the waterway but by providing volunteers the trust is helping sort a massive problem.

“They will clean rubbish from the water but we’re appealing for as many local residents as possible to come help litter pick the surrounding area. Even if they can only come for half an hour, it will make a difference.”

Volunteers are asked to meet at Dalton Parish Hall on the day from 9.45am. Light refreshments will be provided at the hall after the clean-up.
