Celebrity charity boutique is back

A POP-UP boutique which sells clothing donated by celebrities is back for its third year.

Charity Chicks was launched by Dinnington-based charity SAFE@LAST in 2010 with the aim of raising funds for vulnerable young people at risk through running away from home.

The temporary charity shop sells quality and designer items which have been donated by supporters which is previous years have included Fearne Cotton and Sienna Miller.

This week, it is back at Meadowhall until Sunday (25) as part of the shopping centre’s Park Life Summer Pop Up campaign.

Hillary Massarella, SAFE@LAST’s founder trustee, said: “We’re very grateful to Meadowhall for their continuing support and inviting Charity Chicks to return.  

“We’re excited to be in a new location and hope that lots of people will visit us to see the treasures we have on offer.  

“Recycling and purchasing used clothes is a great way to support charities, and shoppers can pick up some amazing bargains.”

In 2010, SAFE@LAST hosted Meadowhall’s first-ever charity shop, selling quality used designer clothes and accessories, as well as a number of pieces which were donated to the boutique by a range of celebrities.  

The boutique returned in 2011 and on both occasions proved a tremendous success, raising over £31,000 for the charity.

This year, the boutique, which launched on Monday, will be located on Lower Park Lane between House of Fraser and Debenhams.

Hillary added: “Our supporters have been very generous with their donations and we will have some fantastic items on sale.

“We hope this year’s boutique will be successful allowing the charity to continue its important work.”

The funds raised will contribute toward SAFE@LAST’s work to educate children and young people about the risks and dangers of running away.

Alex Caley, events manager for Meadowhall said: “We are delighted to be hosting the Charity Chicks pop up fashion boutique.

“Charity Chicks has proved a huge hit with our shoppers in the past, and we hope that the boutique will once again raise thousands of pounds for this very worth charity.”
