Big names and world premiere for Cast

A THEATRE has revealed that its spring and summer season attractions next year will include a top singer, a poet and two famous comedians.

There will also be dance, drama and panto on offer at Doncaster’s Cast Theatre in 2017.

Theatre bosses hope it will be another successful season for the popular place of entertainment.

Cast will host the world première of Northern Ballet’s adaptation of John Boyne’s novel The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas from May 25 to May 27, which follows on from the premiere of the dance company’s Jane Eyre this year. 

The 2017 season will feature the only Yorkshire dates for both Zfin Malta Dance Ensemble on February 1 and Mark Murphy’s dance theatre show Out of this World on April 28. 

Cast will stage the West End hit The Woman in Black from May 8 to May 13 which is on a major UK tour and Torben Bett’s state of the nation comedy Invincible is being staged from February 8 to February 10.

John Godber’s new comedy take on parenting, The Empty Nest Club, will be staged from April 11 to April 13.

Soprano Lesley Garrett will be song on February 11 and poet and  humourist Pam Ayres on March 25.

BBC Radio 2’s Clare Teal and her Mini Big Band will be calling the tunes on April  29. 

Off-the-wall comedian Ross Noble will display his comic wisdom on March 16 and Stewart Lee’s new show Content Provider will be in Doncaster on June 16. 

Families will be able to enjoy Easter pantomime Robin Hood starring Gareth Gates from April 19 to April 20, as well as Northern Ballet’s Goldilocks and the Three Bears on May 27 and an adaptation of children’s classic story The Tiger Who Came to Tea live on stage on June 17 and 18.

A spectacular street-dance and circus production of Rudyard Kipling’s classic Jungle Book will be performed from July 12 to July 15. 

For the second time, London’s South Bank Centre’s festival Alchemy will bring art, music and performance from and inspired by South Asia along with food, fashion, literature, new shows, international masters and up-and-coming talent to Cast on June 3.

“After the many successes of this year, 2017 is set to be another incredible year for Cast with a jam-packed season with something for everyone.”
