Beloved band Boy On A Dolphin to perform in Letwell for 30th anniversary

VILLAGERS are bringing one of their favourite bands back for a welcome return this month — and are inviting you to join them.

Boy On A Dolphin have built up a special relationship with fans in the village of Letwell — performing at the village hall every summer for at least the last 15 years.

The band, who played major stadiums in Canada and the US in the early 90s and went on to fill Sheffield City Hall countless times, rarely get together these days, but frontman John Reilly, lead guitarist Pete Hiley, bass player Andy Needham and drummer Darren Ford are bound for Letwell later this month for two shows on June 27 and 28 as part of their 30th anniversary celebrations.

Parish councillor Martyn Sharpe says the annual visit from the Dolphins was the highlight of the musical year in the quiet farming village.

“We put on eight or nine quality shows each year at the hall with top class performers appearing from all over the country, but nothing quite measures up to the annual appearance of Boy On A Dolphin,” he said.

“The village hall has become a home from home for the boys.

“The band don’t appear very often these days so the concerts are even more special than ever.

“Not many bands get to celebrate 30 years together, but their music really does stand the test of time.

“The songs John and Andy wrote in the 90s sound just as great today, and are just as relevant as ever.

“Over the years the Dolphins have filled major stadiums in North America and played at the City Hall many times, but they keep coming back to our dinky little hall, and it’s now become a tradition.”

Limited tickets priced £15 are available from concert organisers Martyn and Matt on 07909 960422 or 01909 731626.
