30 acts to play Conisbrough Music Fest

MUSIC fans are promised “plenty of variety and great local bands” by the organisers of annual knees-up Conisbrough Music Fest.

There will be more than 30 acts across two live music stages and a DJ stage on the Welfare Field outside the Ivanhoe Centre and an acoustic stage in the Conisbrough Castle grounds on Saturday, July 9.

This year’s event includes a dedicated kids’ zone with a fairground, bouncy castle, urban beach, Punch and Judy show, face painters, music and art workshops an ice cream van and children’s entertainers.

Organisers are asking children to come in beach or festival related fancy dress.

If they pose for a photo by the special seaside panels created by artist Darren Beachill, they can enter a competition to win a free family ticket to next year’s festival.

Co-organiser Penny Lloyd-Rees (pictured), said: “The castle grounds stage is free, with music from noon to 5pm, while the main stage at the Welfare Field will feature The Gents, playing in what might be the last live event for a long time, as they have announced that they will be pursuing separate projects in the future.

“The Imperial Stage will feature many of the Mexborough Bar’s favourite bands including Shock of the Fall, Handsome Dan and the Mavericks and Conisbrough's own Niamh Wilkinson.

“The Subset stage will be playing all your favourite dance tunes brought to you by DJs Prendi; Owen Killgallon and Ash Carr to name but a few. The Kids’ Stage will have a Magic Show, Singing session and Kids, Disco.

“So don’t miss out on the best event of the summer and get on down to Conisbrough Welfare ground on Saturday.”

Bands playing the main stage — with music from noon to 10.30pm — include Fargo Railroad Co, We are Statues, The Homesteads, Saint Harlot and Murder at the Seaside.

The Imperial Stage will host the likes of The Inspectors, Niamh Wilkinson, Tom Jane, Jonestown, The Resistance and Handsome Dan and the Mavericks.
