VIDEO: From Man City to Meadowhall - social media sensation Troy Hawke goes down a storm at student night

VIRAL sensation Troy Hawke left shoppers and students baffled and delighted by greeting them on an evening stroll around Meadowhall.

The TikTok and Instagram star surprised visitors to the shopping centre’s Student Night last week with his comedic take on an aristocratic 1930s greeter.

Hawke welcomed hundreds of students as they arrived at Meadowhall, and his one-liners and amusing observations turned heads across the centre.

Students lined up to get a selfie with Troy, who has enjoyed sell-out performances at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival, as well as a visit to greet the Manchester City team in the summer (below) which proved a huge hit on social media.

Troy - the creation of character comedian Milo McCabe - said: “Every student I met without exception was delightful and hard reinforced the ‘friendly Northerner’ trope.”

The student event included games and giveaways, and even a giant ball pit where students raced against the clock to find hidden golden balls for the chance to win a gift card.
