A THEATRE group worked with survivors of domestic abuse to create a new play throwing the spotlight on violent relationships.

Breakout Arts’ new production Home Safe is being performed at a range of venues Rotherham and makes its public debut tomorrow night (Tuesday, February 28), at Rotherham College’s studio theatre.

Artistic director Karen Mulcahey said: “The process of working in women’s refuges, with young people and some men has been fascinating, powerful, emotional and rewarding.

“These people are incredibly brave and inspiring and it is our mission to give voice to their experiences and to highlight what advice and support are out there for anyone struggling with this situation.

“Our play and the accompanying educational film does this and we want to reach as many people as possible to raise awareness.

“Be warned, the show is an hour of hard hitting, illuminating and hopeful stories and for aged 14-plus.”

The college studio performance of the play, which has been funded by the police and crime commissioner’s office, begins at 7pm and tickets are by donation of £3.

Seats can be booked by emailing [email protected] or calling 07947 861284.
