Wilson gets the all-clear

JUSTIN Wilson will be given the all-clear to compete this weekend in the second IndyCar race of the year - despite suffering a fractured wrist during Sunday’s opener in Florida.

The Rotherham-born driver (pictured) and his Dreyer and Reinbold team-mate Ana Beatriz both sustained arm injuries in St. Petersburg.

Wilson was hurt when his steering wheel twisted violently after a clash following a restart on the 44th lap. He went on to finish tenth after starting sixth on the grid.

Medics examined his wrist on Monday and discovered a minor fracture. He will be fitted with a special carbon fibre brace which will allow him to compete in Birmingham, Alabama, this weekend.
