We'll keep battling, vows Scott

MANAGER Andy Scott insists Rotherham United will not be giving up on the season despite Saturday's damaging defeat at Oxford.

The 2-1 loss left the Millers facing an uphill battle to force their way into the League Two play-offs with only nine games remaining.

They trail seventh-placed Oxford by eight points while wins for fellow challengers Gillingham and Crewe completed a bad weekend.

Scott, who was subjected to criticism from the travelling supporters, says he shares their frustration but pledged that the players would fight to the finish.

"We are all disappointed and frustrated because we're all in it together," he said. "The fans want to be in the play-offs the same as we do. We're not moving in different directions. We all want the same thing.

"They saw we didn't play to our maximum and that was obvious for all to see. I am committed to what we're doing and so are the players. They're disappointed and frustrated with each other but we'll keep working hard; that's all anyone can do."

Saturday's setback makes three points from tomorrow's home clash with struggling Macclesfield Town even more important.

Scott added: "In my calculations there is plenty of points to play for. If people want to give up then that's up to them. There won't be anyone in this squad who gives up until it is mathematically over. There is just under a quarter of the season left."
