We'll fight on, says boss

MANAGER Steve Evans has promised that Rotherham United will fight “tooth and nail” to stay in the Championship no matter what the result of their hearing with the Football League.

The Millers inched five points above the safety line with Wednesday's battling draw at Fulham but the picture is skewed because of the possibility of a deduction over the charge of fielding an ineligible player, Farrend Rawson, in the Easter Monday win over Brighton. A date has still to be set for the hearing.

Rotherham have to wait until next Saturday until their next match at home to Norwich while third-bottom Millwall try to claw back the gap. They go to Cardiff tomorrow and then play at Blackburn on Tuesday.

But whatever the bottom end of the table looks like by next weekend, Evans has no doubts his players can put off-the-field matters to one side and concentrate on the battle.

He said: “I need to let the people behind the scenes continue with that and us in the dressing room will carry on trying to win points.

“Our form is good and we have three huge matches left. Rotherham United will win games and Rotherham United will lose games but when you're inside Rotherham United, you are never defeated.

“We get knocked from pillar to post as a team and as a staff and as a manager so let the knocking continue. We'll fight tooth and nail to make sure we give this great football club another season in the Championship.”
