We have to make amends, says Collins

MILLERS defender Danny Collins has no qualms with Neil Redfearn's scathing criticism of his team – and admits it's time to make amends.

Redfearn's patience finally snapped after Tuesday's dip at Huddersfield, slamming the inept first-half display that left Rotherham chasing yet another game.

Like the rest of the 11 who got the hair-dryer treatment during the boss's half-time rollicking, Collins was in no position to argue.

“We discussed it in the changing room,” he told the Advertiser. “With the position we're in, we shouldn't be having to get egged on by the manager and wound up by the coaching staff to get going. We should be going with sleeves rolled up ready to put in a performance and have a good battle. We just can't do it for 25 minutes in a 90-minute game, it's happened for too much this season where we've put in a good 45 minutes here and there.

“Our first-half performance was well below the standard required for the position we're in and where we want to get to."

Collins was back on the training ground at Roundwood yesterday to get ready for tomorrow's home mate against promotion chasers Hull City in full knowledge that the Tigers carry much more bite than the Terriers.

“We were a bit deflated but we've got to dust ourselves off quickly,” adds Collins.

“We have to stick together, it's a tough time."
