We can down Falcons, says Codling

POWERHOUSES Newcastle Falcons head to Clifton Lane tomorrow chasing a whopping 23rd straight win since they crashed out of the Premiership — but Titans coach Alex Codling believes the Tynesiders are beatable.

Dean Richards’ side have won 16 straight Championship matches plus a clean sweep of six in the British and Irish Cup and this week they further strengthened their big-money squad by signing former England Saxon Noah Cato from Northampton Saints.

Falcons will provide Titans with their biggest test of the season, but Codling reckons his players are brimming with confidence — and is optimistic they can pull off a surprise win.

He said: “Newcastle are a class act, there’s no question about that. They’re very good at set-pieces and are a strong, physical side.

“But we fancy our chances. When I was at London Scottish earlier this season we put four tries on them even though we lost, so they are vulnerable and they have had a few close shaves."

Kick off is 3pm.
