ROTHERHAM United’s gap without a game will now stretch into a second month after tomorrow’s clash with Bournemouth was called off.

The club safety advisory group made the decision yesterday because the icy surrounds at Don Valley Stadium presented a safety hazard to the public.

Rotherham have now gone four weeks since their last match on December 12 having seen fixtures against Dagenham, Darlington, Chesterfield and Rochdale all frozen off.

Manager Ronnie Moore said: "Apart from anything, the pitch is bone hard and there's four to five inches of snow on top. It's frustrating because we want to get playing.

“We're still third in the table and we've got games in hand on the teams around us but I'd rather have points in the bag."

The Millers’ next scheduled fixture is at Accrington next Saturday.

lThe council has cancelled all matches on its 54 pitches across the borough this weekend because of the bad weather.
