Warne wary of too much tinkering

PAUL Warne will steer clear of making too many radical changes when the Millers resume their Championship survival scrap in London this weekend.

The clash at Brentford tomorrow (3pm) offers a chance to flush last week's thrashing at Cardiff City out of the system and post a first win in eight.

Warne was at Hillsborough on Tuesday night to see the Bees beat Sheffield Wednesday and knows his team are in for a hard test.

But with Semi Ajayi, Tom Adeyemi and top scorer Danny Ward all back available, the interim boss has the chance to shake things up, although at the same time he wants to avoid knee-jerk reactions.

"Before Saturday's game I didn't think there was a lot wrong, so I'm not going to change everything just for the sake of change," he told the Advertiser. "We'll try to be upbeat with the lads just to see what we get.

"With Ward, Ajayi and Adeyemi back in contention, that's the backbone of the side and in recent weeks it could be argued they've been the three best players. If you take the best three out of any team they would struggle, but more so with us because we haven't got massive strength in depth.

“But after losing 5-0, the players have got their pride to play for and we're going to have a go. They won't be the first team to take a drumming in a league game, they just have to bounce back.”

Goalkeeper Lewis Price is also pushing for a return and although Lee Frecklington is nearly back to full fitness and will travel, next Saturday's match against Aston Villa is a more realistic goal for the skipper. Warne hopes loan striker Carlton Morris will check in from Norwich City next week after completing treatment for a hamstring problem.

Former Rotherham chief Neil Warnock, meanwhile, has confirmed he will stay on for another year at Cardiff.
