Warne calls Sunday inquest

PAUL Warne makes no apologies for having Rotherham United’s players in for extra work today.

The interim manager was left hurt and embarrassed by mistakes in the second half at QPR yesterday as Ian Holloway’s in-form side cut loose to inflict a 5-1 defeat.

With the gap to safety now standing at 24 points with only 24 more to play for, relegation from the Championship looks set to be confirmed soon after an international break – and that will now start with the players sacrificing their Sunday to go through the match.

Warne said: “I didn’t lose my rag after the game, it’s not worth my health, but being a footballer is a brilliant job and the players need to take responsibility. I know my weekend is ruined so I have no shame in ruining their weekends. They can watch the game and if they’ve got anything to say, constructive or not, they can say it.

“We might fall out, I don’t know, but that will be the end of it. We will train and get up for the next game.”
