Toseland's Imola hearthache

TWO-TIME world champion James Toseland was left to rue what might have been in Imola as round 11 of the World Superbike championship ended in heartache.

Toseland was brimming with confidence heading to the penultimate round in Italy despite a winless return to the World Superbike paddock in 2010.

The former MotoGP star had designs on challenging for the podium after a solid build-up to the weekend\!abut those plans went up in smoke as heavy rain during qualifying leaving him 17th on the grid.

Toseland was left to play catch up on race day and a combination of bike problems in race one and a crash in the second race left the Kiveton rider empty-handed.

“After the warm up on the morning of race day I felt really confident,” said Toseland.

“The rain spoiled play in qualifying but I was feeling confident. The team worked really hard overnight and the bike I had felt really good.

Toseland’s unhappiness was only made worse by being forced to watch Max Biaggi crowned world champion in front of his home crowd.

Despite another tough weekend Toseland is still adamant he can go out in style at the season finale in France next weekend.
