Toseland double delight

BATTLING James Toseland put in his best shift of the season by taking a double podium in Assen—despite more niggles with his Yamaha bike.

Toseland admitted he finally feels back at home in the World Superbike paddock after picking up back-to-back top-three finishes during round four.

The 29-year-old showed the kind of form that saw him lift the world title in 2004 and 2007 at the Dutch circuit finishing second in race one and third in race two.

And the Yamaha Sterilgarda rider - who claimed his maiden podium finish of the season last time out in Valencia - insists his step down from the MotoGP to world paddock is now complete.

"It was another tough weekend, especially on Friday and Saturday, but we pulled through," said Toseland - who qualified in tenth.

"Once again the team has worked fantastically well and they put in a new linkage system on the rear end of bike on the morning of race day just to try and sort some issues and it seemed to work.

"It's been a long weekend but to come from tenth on the grid and get a second and a third, two podiums is just a great result for me and the team.

"It has been coming slowly, we've come from far behind in the first two races so it's fantastic to be up there at the front and fighting.

"I've had great support from my family and friends and want to thank everyone for supporting me in getting back to where I should be."
