Striker edges closer to Rotherham United exit

ROTHERHAM United’s leading marksman Danny Ward could be set to leave the club this summer, according to boss Paul Warne.

The 12-goal forward has excelled in a team relegated from the Championship and at the foot of the table.

The Advertiser understands the Millers turned down offers for Ward in January but a significant bid has now come in from a Championship club, with another lodging serious interest.

Ward (25) has been with Rotherham for two-and-a-half years since his arrival from Huddersfield Town, and it is thought that his former club have a sizeable sell-on clause in his contract.

However, with his current deal set to expire in the summer and another one being autimatically triggered, it is uncertain as to whether that clause still stands.

See this week’s Advertiser for the full story on Ward and the latest from Warne on out-of-contract striker Jonson Clarke-Harris, potential target Luke Waterfall and when his new assistant is set to join.
