Rotherham United land winger Williams

RYAN Williams has become Rotherham United's third summer signing following his release from South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley.

The Australian winger has penned a two-year-deal at the AESSEAL New York Stadium and will join up with other summer recruits Darren Potter and Michael Ihiekwe when pre-season training begins at the end of this month.

The former Australia youth international lists Portsmouth and Fulham among his former employers and was realeased from Oakwell following a loan move in 2014 and then a subsequent two-year spell with the club.

The 23-year-old turned out 17 times for the Tykes in the Championship last season, finding the back of the net on one occasion.

The Millers are expected to announce the signing of forward David Ball this week as well as the departure of last season's top scorer Danny Ward as transfer activity hots up.

Former midfielder Richie Smallwood, who left the Millers following the expiry of his contract, has signed for League One rivals Blackburn Rovers on a two-year-deal.

Meanwhile, keep your eyes on the Advertiser website tomorrow (Wednesday) morning for the League One fixture list, which is revealed at 9am.
