THE Millers are quite happy being the underdogs in next week’s League One play-off final at Wembley.

Although Rotherham and Shrewsbury both won on each other’s grounds during the regular season, Paul Hurst’s side finished eight points better off and challenged for automatic promotion for much of the campaign.

That makes them favourites for next Sunday’s showpiece, on paper at least, and Paul Warne isn’t complaining.

“Shrewsbury are massive favourites,” smiled the Millers boss. “They’ve had more rest and had got more points.

“We go in as underdogs and I have no issue with that, I quite like that tag.”

Warne also paid tribute to the job his old Millmoor team-mate has done with the Shrews.

“What Hursty has done there is phenomenal,” said Warne. “We have had some good games and big wins but he has consistently done well and Shrewsbury haven’t had many dips in form. They’ve spent 200 odd days in the top two and if anyone deserved to be in the play-offs, it’s them.

“The third and fourth placed teams in the Championship and in League One are going to Wembley, which is a good thing.”

The Rotherham squad report back for training tomorrow but will really step up their preparations for the big game next week.

The club have an allocation of 25,000 tickets and shifted 3,500 on their first day of sale yesterday to season ticket holders. They go on general sale at 12pm on Monday.
