Rotherham United await news on summer bids

ROTHERHAM United have launched into the summer transfer market by making offers for several players.

Amidst reports linking the club with a big-money move for former loan striker Kieffer Moore, they have made moves for eight or nine players and will hope to make progress this week.

Although the attack is an area manager Paul Warne will want to strengthen, there has been no official word yet as to whether Barnsley striker Moore is a target.

Chairman Tony Stewart told the Advertiser: “Offers have gone out to seven or eight players but I see four or five signings as a maximum, I don't see any more.

“It's like anything, you put your trawler net out and you don't catch all the fish in the ocean. That seven might go to nine but we are not going for nine players. What we do know is that we won't be successful in all areas.

“For instance, if we go for three strikers and get one, we will have fulfilled what we want out of it.”

Kieffer Moore made a good impression on loan with the Millers last season.

Moore's 13 league goals for Rotherham last season while on loan from Ipswich helped in the push towards promotion from League One.

He subsequently joined Barnsley in January but their relegation from the Championship has raised question marks over his future at Oakwell. There is also a new head coach in Daniel Standel at the helm.

Warne said: "We've got a lot of irons in the volcano and we've put a lot of bids out to different clubs for players I think will improve us. I appreciate we need to add to the squad but we won't sign shedloads of players, it's not like we need a overhaul of the whole squad. We will only bring in people who will benefit the group and buy into what we do here."
