Rotherham aces on sports shortlist

SUPER sports from Rotherham have another chance to pick up awards on Wednesday night.

After the success of the recent Rotherham event, several locals are in contention for honours at South Yorkshire Sports Awards at the English Institute of Sport.

Sailor Paul Goodison is one of five contenders for the Senior Performer of the Year

Aston School’s U16 rounders team, winners of the national championship, are one of four nominations for the Junior Team of the Year prize.

Charlie Redfearn of Phoenix CC is a contender in the Young Volunteer of the Year section and Vicky Harmon of Maltby St. Mary’s Community Gym Club is a nominee for the Young Coach of the Year award.

Dinningon cyclist Dominic Hurley (Rising to the Challenge), Chloe Bennett (Junior Performer of the Year) are also in contention for awards.

The event starts at 7pm.
