RONNIE Moore blasted a "spineless" performance after seeing Rotherham United suffer a damaging defeat to promotion rivals Bournemouth at Don Valley last night.

Lucky to be ahead through a Tom Pope header at half time, Rotherham capitulated in the second half to lose 3-1.

The Cherries' top scorer, Brett Pitman, equalised within two minutes of the restart before two goals from Danny Hollands underlined the visitors' superiority.

The defeat left the Millers seven points behind Bournemouth, albeit with three games in hand, and scuppered their chances of climbing back into the automatic promotion spot in League Two.

Totally unacceptable
A furious Moore kept his players in the dressing room for nearly an hour after the final whistle.

Afterwards, he said: "For what was at stake, that performance was totally unacceptable and at times, spineless.

"We didn't have a leader and were lucky to come in at half time 1-0 up. The only decent bit of football we played we scored from.

"People talk about the top three but we won't be in the top seven if we perform like that."
