REACTION: Warne salutes team's character and quality

PAUL Warne praised his Rotherham United side for turning in such an impressive display against Northampton.

The 3-0 win, and the manner of it, was the perfect response to successive defeats. It also consolidated fourth spot in League One.

The Millers boss said: “We have not been up to standard in the last two games. We needed to put a flag in the ground and we did. We performed very well and limited them to very few chances and got three good goals ourselves. It was hugely pleasing.

“It’s nice that both my strikers scored. I thought Michael Smith was virtually unplayable up front. Will Vaulks, as my captain at centre-half, was excellent. There were many good performances.

“I’m really proud of all the lads. After two defeats, people start whispering that maybe we’re not this or that but we were really good.

“As a group you have good days and bad days. This was a good day and I am proud to share it with this group of players.”
