Speaking exclusively to the Advertiser following Saturday's 1-0 defeat at home to Fulham which officially ended the Millers' three year Championship stint, Mr Stewart said things will become much clearer after the derby clash with Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday evening.

Interim boss Paul Warne is the favourite to land the job on a permanent basis, but Mr Stewart has been considering other applications over the recent international break.

"After the Sheffield Wednesday game on Tuesday I shall be talking with regards to what the board have decided is the best way to move forward.

"It is a sad day, it ends three seasons in the Championship, but I'm looking forward to regathering and making sure we've got the right manager for next season."
