REACTION: Boss presses for reinforcements after derby defeat

MILLERS chief Paul Warne wants to have at least three new players through the door before tomorrow night's transfer deadline.

One announcement is expected imminently, with the individual in question undergoing a medical, and two more are expected to follow.

Rotherham are one of a number of clubs chasing Grimsby Town striker Omar Bogle and have been linked with highly-rated Plymouth left-back Ben Purrington.

Whether new faces will arrive in time for tomorrow's match at Nottingham Forest is still unclear, but with Aimen Belaid and Darnell Fisher expected to be out for the next fortnight and skipper Lee Frecklington still a few days away from a return, reinforcements are desperately needed.

Championship rivals QPR, meanwhile, appear the keenest to take top scorer Danny Ward. Huddersfield have had previous offers turned down while Ipswich and Wolves also shown an interest but Rotherham do not want to part with their prize asset and the bids so far have not been anywhere near big enough to warrant serious consideration.

Warne couldn't quibble with the effort his players poured in against Barnsley, his only regret was they didn't have the quality needed to turn a tight game.

"I thought one bit of class would be the difference but unfortunately it wasn't my team who had it today," he said, referred to the winning goal from Newcastle United loan man Adam Armstrong.

"We started the game really well but didn't have enough guile to cut them open.

"For the goal I think Fish (Darnell Fisher) got a bit square. Armstrong got inside him and tucked it in quite comfortably. It's hugely frustrating because the lads gave me everything they've got but it didn't really drop for them in the box."

With relegation rivals Burton winning at QPR, the 11-point gap to safety leaves the Millers needing to produce promotion form in the last 18 matches if they're to avoid relegation from the Championship.

"There's no point berating the lads as we need to go again Tuesday night," he said. "We'll do all we can to bandage them up and pick them up for another game.

"We did everything right to pick up at least a point against Barnsley but lady luck isn't shining down on me at the moment."
