Race experience "brilliant" for marathon mum

A MUM who signed up for her first marathon after losing ten-and-a-half stone is planning more massive runs after having a “brilliant time” completing the course.

Among the runners in the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon on Sunday was Thorpe Hesley mum Chantil Calvert.

The 42-year-old was raising money for Therapy for Oscar, the charity she and husband Andrew set up to help pay for treatment and therapy not available on the NHS for their son Oscar, who has cerebral palsy.

Husband Andrew said Chantil - who tipped the scales at 24 stone two years aho - “had a brilliant time” and completed the course in five hours and 52 minutes.

He added: “She has very tired legs but enjoyed it and is hoping to do more marathons.”
