No cash windfall, says Tony

CHAIRMAN Tony Stewart says that promotion to League One will not necessarily bring a cash windfall to Rotherham United.

While the club can look forward to more people coming through the turnstyles and increased off-the-field revenue next season, English football's third tier is still a world away from the cash-rich Premier League.

The higher income has to be measured against increased fixed costs and player salaries, indicating that there will be no financial sea change.

Mr Stewart told the Advertiser: "Financially there is not a lot difference between League One and League Two. You might be talking £300,000 but you have to take into account League One players get paid more than League Two, so the costs go up."
