Mixed feelings for versatile Vaulks

The midfielder has been asked to fill in at right-back as a result the Millers' injury problems and emerged with credit from the back-to-back home defeats to Aston Villa and Brighton.

Vaulks' versatility means he will be a useful operator beyond this season but in the meantime the aim is to stay in the team and make sure the Championship's bottom team can end the season with some pride.

He told the Advertiser: "I've played right-back a few times in the past, especially when there has been injuries, and obviously I'm fairly versatile. I've enjoyed it as much as you can enjoy getting beat.

"At the moment we don't have any more options and Paul Warne knows I will play anywhere for the team, I just love playing football and I'll do the best job I can to keep the other right-backs out when they're fit. That's the aim of the game at the moment."

"The first half was good but it was the same old story, I've lost count of the number of times we have come in 0-0," added the 23-year-old.

"We were 1-0 down to a goal that was a little bit lucky and the question was, could we go at them? They're a good side but we made it a little bit easy for them in the final part of the game."
