The newly-installed permanent boss had a recruitment meeting today at which targets were discussed for next season.

He wants to sign seven or eight new faces and hasn't ruled out trying to bring former Millers promotion winner Ben Pringle back to the club.

Warne spoke to one prospective signing yesterday and has other conversations lined up and is doing so confident of the support of chairman Tony Stewart.

"The budget will be good, the chairman is really supportive," he said. "We've had a recruitment meeting today and the players we want to bring in are pretty pricey but they are going to improve the team.

"We've lost a lot of football games and we need to tighten up all over the pitch. There is also a dearth of goals and that is at the forefront of my planning.

Ben Pringle might be a consideration for Rotherham United

"There is a small pool of players everyone is after so you have to be the first to the party and the best dressed.

"I think we need seven or eight new faces because there will be some natural erosion, some players will go and I presume some will be bought."

Warne reiterated the club intended taking up its one-year option on striker Danny Ward, who was the subject of strong interest in QPR in January and may leave this summer.
