Millers draw a blank

TEN-MAN Carlisle held out to frustrate Rotherham United in a goalless draw at the New York Stadium.

After a drab opening 45 minutes, the match looked to be heading for a home win when defender Conor Townsend was dismissed in first-half injury time for a second bookable offence.

But despite upping the pressure after half time, Steve Evans’ side could not find a way past the well organised visitors.

Matt Tubbs hit the side netting from a good chance, Liam Noble nearly deflected a cross into his own net and skipper Craig Morgan had a header cleared off the line.

Evans also changed the forward line, replacing Tubbs and Alex Revell with Tom Eaves and new loan signing Nouha Dicko.

Eaves had a couple of punts at goal and Michael O’Connor’s aim was off in a goalmouth scramble, but it took a smart save by Adam Collin in stoppage time to stop the visitors stealing the points.
