Mick ticked off the 60th and final one when he had a day at Wincanton recently, ending a tour that has taken more than a decade.

“It's like when football fans make it a mission to visit all 92 league grounds,” he said. “I've covered 8,500 miles and it's taken about 14 years and there's not many people done it. It all started at Doncaster.

“At the start of this year I had 14 left so I thought: 'Come on, let's crack on and do it.'

“I've met quite a few people along the way. I met Harvey Smith at Hexham and a few years later he introduced me to JonJo O'Neill. I also met Harry Redknapp at Goodwood.

“Betting wise, the best day was at Epsom when I had five out of seven winners. Most of the time I haven't won a bean.”

Mick, from Bramley, has now started Rotherham Racing Club for trips to the races, the first of which will be at Southwell, near Newark, on Sunday.

The £20 cost covers the coach and admission. New members will go into a draw to win two free tickets.
