FORMULA One star Timo Glock has defended his decision to join the new Manor-Virgin Grand Prix team—but admits that he is not likely to be near the top of the grid in 2010.

 

After an abortive start with Jordan, the 27-year-old German revived his career at GP2 level and drove for Toyota in 2008 and 2009.

But after the Japanese giant pulled out, Glock became Manor’s prime signing—and he says it’s the right move for him.

"Some have said that this is the beginning of the end,” said Glock. “But I have experienced many highs and lows in my career and have therefore have a pretty good long-term vision.

"In my view Formula One is moving back to the private teams.

"Manor have a good combination of young, motivated and also experienced people and I want to progress along with them.”
