Let's get to Wembley, says Millers chief

RONNIE Moore leads his Rotherham United team into the play-offs this weekend, saying: "I want to lead the side out at Wembley more than anything."

The Millers take on Aldershot Town over two legs to earn win a place in the League Two play-off final on May 30 and a shot at promotion.

And as Moore and his 21-man squad set off today for an overnight stay ahead of the first leg at the Recreation Ground tomorrow night (6pm), he says the players should need no motivating to go out and give it their all.

"If the players aren't motivated, there's something wrong," said Moore. "They should want to run through a brick wall for this.

"There's an opportunity to play at Wembley and to play in League One and even for the players who might not be here next season, there's pride to play for and a chance to impress other clubs in front of the live TV cameras.

"Opportunities like this don't come around very often and what a day it will be if we get to Wembley.

"The players should want to go out and do it not just for themselves but for their families because Wembley is a fantastic day out for their partners, their mums and dads and their kids.

"I so want to get through, I feel as though I could go and play half-an-hour myself! I want to lead the side out at Wembley more than anything."

The tie pits the Millers, who finished fifth in the regular season, against an Aldershot side who finished a point behind in sixth.

Moore welcomes back leading scorer Adam Le Fondre and midfielder Josh Walker, both of whom were rested for last Saturday's lame 3-0 defeat at Hereford.

The winners will play either Morecambe or Dagenham in the final. They play their first leg at Dagenham on Sunday, with the return at Christie Park next Thursday night.
