Tom Pope and Ryan Taylor were given the go-ahead to resume training after undergoing x-rays on metatarsal injuries.

But Moore's chances of bringing in his son, Ian Thomas-Moore, from Tranmere Rovers looked to be receding.

Moore said: "We have offered £30,000 for him. They originally wanted £100,000 and now they want £50,000.

"Good player as he is, we are not going to pay £50,000 for a 34-year-old. We are not going down that road."

While Moore has not stopped looking for an experienced striker, he will soon see his options up front increase with the return of Pope and Taylor.

He also signed Nigerian forward Jeremiah Ani on a one-month deal this week.

"It's a massive boost to have Tom and Ryan on the way back," said Moore.

"The two can start training on Monday and if they get their fitness back then they could well be pushing to play again in a fortnight.

"From struggling for strikers, we could have five or six of them."

With right-back Johnny Mullins and centre-half Nick Fenton still edging back to full fitness from long-term injuries, Moore has managed to extend the loan spells of Dean Holden from Shrewsbury and Exodus Geohaghon from Peterborough.

Loan striker Tom Elliott however is set to miss Saturday's trip to Hereford with a thigh strain.

Rotherham will be seeking a third league win out of four having outscored Cheltenham 6-4 last week but Moore warned: "Hereford are a big, strong side and they're immense from set plays.

"If we defend how we defended last week then we will get beat but if we defend like we did at Morecambe we should be OK.

"There are no easy games in this division."
