Speaking last night, he said: "You cannot go anywhere and defend as a back four like that and expect to win games. You give yourself an uphill battle. Both full-backs were just not at it.

"We're in tomorrow. We'll work on the back four and work and work and work on them to make them better defenders because we can't do anything about it until the transfer window reopens January.

"We didn't need the replay and we didn't need to be in in the morning, but we are. You can't push that under the carpet. You've got to come in and work hard and put a shift in and run about."

Two goals in the first 20 minutes from Adam Newton and Alan White set the Hatters on their way before Claude Gnakpa put gloss on the win with a second-half strike.
