Curtis in opponent switch

CURTIS Woodhouse has had his opponent changed for next week’s big show at Magna—as he prepares to grab what boss Dave Coldwell describes as a massive chance within the next six months.

Woodhouse was scheduled to fight Rick Godding, but that bout will now take place on a Sky TV bill this summer and the Rotherham-based fighter will now defend his International Masters title against African big-hitter Godfrey Sowah.

Sowah is the current Ghanaian champion and former Commonwealth title challenger.

And Woodhouse will be told that, if he wins what could be his last fight in Yorkshire for a while, then a majorm title shot is on the cards for September.

Said Coldwell: “We can’t say what is being lined up, but it is pretty special.

“His next two fights look like they won't be in Rotherham, so it could be the end of the year before we see him at the Magna again so I hope the fans turn up to see this and give him a good send off. When he returns, if all goes to plan, he could be defending something more prestigious.”
