FOOTBALL officials from one of the area's biggest Saturday leagues are braced for yet another blank weekend.

Like other competitions in the area, the County Senior League has ground to a halt over the last month and is now trying to work out how to make up the many matches lost.

With the rough weather continuing, member clubs like Millmoor Juniors, Dinnington Town Reserves, Aston, Brinsworth Whitehill, Wickersley, Thorpe Hesley, Bramley Sunnyside and Phoenix Reserves face yet another battle to get their games on.

The league's fixtures secretary, Brian Bradley, said: "I can't see anyone playing this weekend. Even if the snow goes, pitches could become waterlogged.

"As we stand, the league programme can finish on time but if we lose two more weekends to the weather we will be in a desperate plight.

"I have totally revamped the fixture list for all three divisions. There will be 74 matches during February, providing of course every team manages to play on every Saturday."
