Club mourns death of 'a real gentleman'

TRIBUTES have been paid to stalwart Eric Duke, the man who helped build Rotherham Hockey Club.

Eric, who died last Friday, served in many roles at the club and was latterly president. He was also a honorary life member.

His colleagues at Rotherham led the tributes to a man described as a real gentleman.

“Eric's health had not been good and much has recently been said by those that have known him in tribute to his character and reputation as one of life's true gentlemen,” said a spokesman.

“It is rare these days, but true when said in relation to Eric, that nobody had a single bad word to say about him."
