THE Rotherham United Academy is in urgent need of host families for its apprentices for the forthcoming season.

If you think you would like to host a young apprentice professional footballer on his journey into the game please contact [email protected]

Said a spokesman: “We are looking for families with a spare bedroom, who can provide a stable environment, to assist the transition for young players who are moving away from home for the first time."

Suitable families would be interviewed by the club and would receive a CRB check, in line with current regulations. Players would be with the host families from the beginning of July through to the following May, generally from Sunday evening through to Saturday mornings (dependant on fixtures) with short breaks at Easter and Christmas/New Year.
