Bester signs in at Clifton Lane

The charismatic South African—as revealed in last week’s Advertiser—signed a new rolling contract yesterday and immediately started work on building his squad.

Both Bester and directors Martin Jenkinson and Nick Cragg held talks last week following the departure of Craig West and found plenty of common ground on which to build a solid working relationship.

It was a re-marriage which many thought impossible—but with both parties having learned lessons following the acrimonous split three years ago, bridges have been built and Bester returns to the club with the brief of bringing the good times back.

He said: “It’s good to be back and I’m looking forward to the challenge.

“We’ve obviously got certain players signed up already and we are now looking at others. The squad should be finalised by the end of May and Martin Jenkinson has been a great help. The club is a lot more professional now and that has made it easier for me to offer players contracts by working alongside the directors."
